In this article, you would be able to know about the Best Bike Rack for Toyota Camry, Highlander, Corolla, Tacoma, Matrix, Rav4, Sienna, Prius, Yaris, and Many More models. Updates are Coming Soon
Toyota Tacoma Bike Rack
Here is probably the most crafty of bike racks that I have posted on this website. I believe that this is a Toyota Tacoma, but it is possible that it could be the larger Tundra. Anyway, you will probably have to click the image to see this. It is basically a truck, with two bike mounts concealed right near the windows. This is a great idea. I have seen this done on tool boxes, but it doesn’t leave much room for the bikes with a big toolbox. These are done over a gorilla type lining. I almost missed this but thought:
“Wait a minute, there are bike mounts on that Tacoma.”
Then I snapped the picture. These things are for sale everywhere I think rack attack sells them with like a 10% discount. The best place I’ve seen them is eBay but I’d check rack attack first because sometimes it’s better to deal with a company rather than eBay.
These fork mounts are great tho. You can practically mount them anywhere. I think I’ve said it before but I’m going to buy some for one of my next bike rack projects.
Toyota Tacoma Roof Mounted Bike Rack
The Toyota Tacoma is a decent truck with good looks. More than capable of fitting bikes in the truck bed, you also have the ability to mount on a roof rack as this owner did. This rack has extended bars which if you decide to go this route has more than enough space for a bike for each passenger leaving enough room in the truck bed for additional gear if you like camping or perhaps a few kayaks. Just make sure you and your passengers don’t hit their heads upon exiting the vehicle.
Toyota Tacoma in bed Bike Rack
I’m currently looking at trucks as an additional vehicle to haul stuff. Although I’m sure mine won’t be quite as nice as this Toyota Tacoma v6 SRS the in bed bike rack is quite a nice option to accompany any truck. This owner took two load stabilizers and attached two bike trays to them. If you get the crew cab and the short bed on a Tacoma two adult bikes may not quite fit on the bed without the liftgate and bed extender down. This option lifts them out of the bed, so you don’t have to worry quite so much about bed size. I imagine that the whole setup comes out by loosening the tension on the stabilizers and lifting it out as one unit, it’d have to be easy to make it appealing to me, who wants to mess around putting a rack in when the ride is about to start or it’s over and you have to get back to work?
Toyota Tundra Bike Rack
This is a picture of a hitch mount bike rack on a Toyota Tundra. You can fit bikes in the bed of these trucks, they are huge! But if you have a cover on your truck bed (like this one does) you will probably want a hitch mount rack. If you plan to get a hitch mount bike rack you are going to want to buy a good one. The cheap ones will not last as long. The best brands for hitch mount bike racks are Thule, Yakima and Saris are breaking into the market. Any of these will work great on the Tundra. It has a 2″ receiver hitch so make sure that this is the size you buy.
Check out the pages on this site if you want to get some good ideas or possibly want to look at bike rack plans. From this bike rack plans, I have available you can make your own bike rack. They do not step by step directions but they will still show you how to make a bike rack. If making a bike rack isn’t your thing then I’d suggest looking at the other sites that I link to in my posts and check out the Amazon auctions. I’ve seen some hitch bike racks that would fit the Toyota Tundra go for a really good price. Check them out, and if you see a good deal put a bid in. You never know you may win the auction and end up with the best bike rack for the Toyota Tundra.
Toyota Corolla Roof Mount Bike Rack
Here is a picture of the Toyota Corolla with a roof mounted bike rack. I’ve always liked the Toyota Corolla and this model looks really nice. Good color too. Anyway back to the point of this post. This is what a roof-mounted bike rack on a Toyota Corolla will look like. As you can see from the close-up picture the rack is kind of large. I would shop around to see if you can find a more slimline model since this one is kind of bulky. Alternatively, if you have the Corolla a trunk mount bike rack will fit nicely or if you have a hitch for hauling you can get a hitch mount bike rack. Personally, I like the way the roof mount for the Corolla looks but they are not always the most practical. Two heavy mountain bikes should be ok on this aftermarket rack but I would not try to put a third bike on it. This picture was taken when I was riding but I took a break and got the closeup picture so that you could see how large the Yakima Rack on the Toyota Corolla looks.
Toyota Corolla Trunk Mount Bike Rack
Every time I say Corolla I think of Weird Al and the “My Corolla” song for some reason, even if he didn’t write it. This Toyota Corolla has a non-descriptive trunk mount bike rack that is capable of holding a couple of bikes. The issue with department store bike racks is sometimes they’re hard to mount, scratch paint or sag once you have bikes installed. Ensuring that everything is tight before mounting the bikes is key.
Toyota Matrix Trunk Mount Bike Rack
Click on the image for a larger picture of the Toyota Matrix with a Trunk Mount Bike Rack on it. This picture was taken whilst leaving from a ride in Raleigh. The model of this Matrix is actually an XR which gives you some upgrades from the standard Matrix. I know this because I almost purchased one. One thing it gives you other than a nicer look is a functional rear window wiper. As you can see the rear window wiper is behind the bike rack and you can still see the license plate when no bikes are on the rack. I think that this is the Bell Bike Rack sold at Walmart. It looks decent but like other examples on Amazon.com, it seems to be pointing upwards somewhat. If you’re looking at transporting bikes in your Matrix you can actually lay the seats down and fit up to three bikes inside. I know this because I have done it before. Just make sure that you put blankets between the bikes to protect them. You may also have to turn handlebars and take of saddles, but that’s ok because you can store them in many of the storage compartments that you have. I have not seen a roof rack on the Toyota Matrix yet but want to see what it looks like. This is really a car where it would make more sense to get a roof box and just store your bikes in the car. This should save you some money. Check out the deals on Amazon.com if you’re looking for a bike rack for your Toyota Matrix. If you want even more storage for your Toyota Matrix, get a roof box, a tow hitch, and a hitch mount bicycle rack. If you purchase the correct hitch type for the Matrix then you will be able to load four bikes. You can use the trunk space and the roof box to store gear and carry four people, four bikes and all of your gear. That would be one great bike trip!
Toyota Camry Trunk Mount Bike Rack
Why anyone would leave their bike rack on their car all the time makes no sense to me unless they go for a ride after they get off work and don’t want to be bothered with the hassle of mounting the bike rack. This one I think is a 90’s model Camry and the bike rack appears to be some sort of cheap one. Notice again how the mounting bars appear to be going upwards. This some times changes when you put bikes on it but some times it doesn’t. It is not good when your bike rack is loaded and the bars are pointing up. When this happens the bikes are more likely to swing and hit each other or damage your car. Check out the Saris Bones bike rack if you don’t want this to happen.
Older Toyota Corolla Roof Mounted Bike Rack
I took this picture a while back. Basically, its an older Toyota Corolla with a roof mounted bike rack setup. I don’t exactly know the year of this model but my guess would be 1980’s or possibly very early 90’s. It’s quite a nice rack that should be able to hold two bikes. The load limits on roofs vary depending on the car and the year. The older boxier style of this Corolla probably means that it can handle a little more load than the average Corolla these days. It just goes to show that almost any car can have a bike rack fitted to it no matter what the year.
Toyota Sequoia Roof Mount Bike Rack
I must admit that I have a bit of a thing for black vehicles. I don’t know what it is, but somehow they just seem to look better than the exact same vehicle in a different color. This Toyota Sequoia has a roof-mounted bike rack and is a nice clean shiny black. It will hold two bikes nicely and the rack its self isn’t too bulky like some of the available heavy-duty bike racks out there. I have a feeling that this person does more road biking than mountain biking because of how clean the Sequoia is. The roofline is sort of high, so you might want to park next to a curb or wall, or open the doors and climb in so you can get your bikes down if you don’t have the railing that this one has.
I also have pictures of a hitch mount bike rack for the Sequoia. This is a great alternative if you do not want a roof rack. The rack should fold easily fit in the back of your car for storage if you need it to. I wouldn’t recommend a trunk mounted bike rack for this car since the available hitch and roof should be sufficient. A trunk mount bike rack would fit, but would not be as stable.
Toyota Sequoia Hitch Mount Bike Rack
This is an older picture I took of a hitch mount bike rack on a Toyota Sequoia. It was had just rained this day but it was a great day for biking since the weather was a little warmer from the heat kept in by the clouds. This particular hitch mount bike rack is for made by Allen and is folded down. I got to see the owner of this one load his bike up. It took one quick snap of the handle to put the prongs in the upright position and then he lifted his bike, secured it and it was done. For an entry level bike rack, this is pretty decent. These can be purchased at Dicks Sporting goods but if you really want a deal on a great hitch mount bike rack for your Toyota Sequoia I’d check out all of the pages on this site, some of them have great deals. The hitch on the Toyota Sequoia is the larger type which is 2″ so no adapter is needed.
Different Types of Bike Racks, Mounts, Hoists & Carriers.
There are so many types and brands of bike racks to choose from, all in different styles. I am going to name all of the different types that I can think of off the top of my head. I’ll be writing about them each in detail with mine and other bikers experiences with each of these types of racks in the future. Go Ahead, bookmark this page so that you can easily get back here and see what I have to say about all of these different ways to mount your bike on your car, truck, SUV, in your garage, on your balcony, in your laundry room, in the basement.
Trunk mount bike racks are a great way to transport your bike if you don’t have or want to buy a tow hitch or can’t afford one. They are good to move around to other cars as a lot will fit more than one bike model. Click the link to find out more information on trunk mount bike racks.
Everything hitch mount related is posted here. A lot of people recommend this type of bike rack and for good reasons. They come in different types and vary in price. Check out the hitch mount bike racks section to find out more information about them.
Spare Tire Mount
This type of bike mount is basically a bike rack that mounts to your spare tire. Normally you will see these on Jeeps but every once in a while on another vehicle that has a spare tire. These are great types of bike racks that don’t touch any part of your car except your spare tire which is pretty good. They can support a good load (provided that you don’t have 500lb bikes). If you want a good rack and have a spare tire you can’t go wrong with these. The price is normally right too! You can pick them up off of eBay or dicks if making them isn’t your thing.
I’ve got some plans that I’ve drawn up to make your own spare tire mount bike rack but the thing is, I have to find someone with a spare tire that I can put this bike rack on if I actually make one. If anyone is interested in these plans just drop me a comment or an e-mail sometime and I’ll mail you the text I have.
Standalone bike racks can be considered any type of rack that is used on its own. Basically a freestanding bike rack or a rack that just sits on the ground. Generally, standalone bike racks are not mounted to automobiles.
I don’t have a category yet for curb racks but basically, they are slabs of concrete with slots just the right size for wheels to fit in. These are called curb racks because sometimes they are lined up and form a curb and are generally found near curbs. They are easy to form your selves but also can be purchased. You see these a lot in England. Especially in old school areas and around town. They do not always offer anything to secure your bike to.
These are the ones that I can think of, but I know there are more. There are also lots of types of hoists and racks and bike holders for repairs. These will be written about in detail. Also with all of the bikers, I know we have a lot of knowledge about the best type of bike carriers from our own experiences. Some are better than others, others have different purposes. Some are bad, some really bad. They all have their own advantages and disadvantages.
