Known issues and their workarounds

Cases of crashes in the Hideout if too many customization items are placed

  • Solution 1
    • Try dialing down your monitor’s refresh rate down to 120Hz.
  • Solution 2
    • Roll back the NVIDIA graphics driver to v566.36, as reports suggest that the above versions are causing some issues with the game.

After playing for a prolonged session, audio can become corrupted

  • Solution
    1. Navigate to the location C:\Users\*Username*\Documents\Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
    2. Open the ACShadows.ini file inside the above location.
    3. You need to locate something like this:
      [Language]
      Client=de-DE
      Text=de-DE
      Sound=en-US
      Subtitles=de-DE
    4. You need to change the 3rd line “Sound=en-US” to “Sound=de-DE” for German. If you want other audio, you can do that accordingly. So, after the change, the [Language] section becomes:
      [Language]
      Client=de-DE
      Text=de-DE
      Sound=de-DE
      Subtitles=de-DE
    5. Save the file and make it write-protected; otherwise, you’d need to change the settings every time you restart your PC.

  • Solution 3
    • Uninstall the graphic drivers and install them clean.
  • Solution 4
    1. In Steam, right-click on Assassin’s Creed Shadows and select Properties.

More bugs are coming soon…their fixes as well

Like other game titles, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is also prone to bugs and issues. While some may argue that the game is already troubling gamers within a few days of its launch, well, in reality, this isn’t the first time for a game. Remember Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5, and the best of all, Cyberpunk 2077. Also, note that this isn’t the end of bugs for this game, and as time goes by, you may come across issues. If you wish to report a bug to Ubisoft, then you can head over to the company’s bug reporter website and hit the Report a Bug button to raise an issue.
